This newsletter is intended for all users who have already installed or are currently using UlangoTV in one form or another. As you know, we do not invest in ads and rely on the natural distribution by people who like our service and spread the news among family and friends. UlangoTV is not aimed at the masses. Our small team consisting of just one developer and a few scouts who help us in their spare time would just not be up to the high demand.
The dissemination is mainly through our Golden Key Incentive Program, which I would like to emphasize once again. 15 € for every new customer!
Digging through the forest of UlangoTV versions is sometimes a challenge, I must confess. Therefore I tried to make it as simple as possible for the future. UlangoTV comes in just two Versions (two binaries only for all devices we support). In the Version info of the App you are informed, which version should be used for your current subscription state:
Premium Plus subscribers or 24h Testers need the Plus Version: plus.apk (http://ulango.tv/uploads/plus.apk – currently 4.1.32)
Registered Free Users need the Free Version: free.apk (http://ulango.tv/uploads/free.apk – currently 4.1.32f)
There is a special downloads page now ulango.tv/downloads, where you can find the most current version of these links too.
Given so many different Android versions and derivatives also installing from those links above can be a challenge. To make this easier we recommend two things:
- Documentation (yes there is some 😉 ) Read our blog article “User manual UlangoTV: Installation“
- Use the built-in Downloader in UlangoTV itself. (Depending on the Android Version after downloading extra Installation step may be needed, accessing the downloaded APKs in local/Downloader, see doc above.)
The most important property of UlangoTV – compared to other IPTV apps, is, that many changes do not need change in the app, because the app is always tightly connected to our database and to the web service ulango.tv. So we added some new features behind the app UlangoTV: Hierarchical Favorite Lists and the extended M3U export for other Players.
Hierarchical Favorite Lists
This has been described in a recent blog article “User Manual UlangoTV: Hierarchical Favorite Lists“. It allows you do build arbitrary list structures of channels, region lists and other favorite lists.
This feature also helps you to keep favorite lists small and responsive (20-30 per list is a good number). This is very important, because long lists are cached long-term and get only refreshed when there is enough computing power on our servers. So they may get out of date – presenting unwanted effects to users.
M3U export for other Players
We get a lot of inquiries from people who just want an m3u list for their player which runs on their TV. They don’t like boxes to be used on HDMI with an extra Remote Control.
So we provided a new feature for subscribers to export sets of streams to m3u. You will have seen these little M3U icons already on various places of the website when you have Premium Plus privileges: Favorites, Regional lists and Channel Explorer search result. See my blog article “M3U PlayLists were yesterday – or not? UlangoTV without Android !!!“
Currently we provide export for VLC and Smart IPTV. If we get format examples from you guys for other players, we will add them.
That’s it so far. Thanks for reading.
